Martha was loved by Jesus.
When he spoke her name, he said "Martha... Martha." He said it twice for a reason. Twice is filled with compassion and when someone speaks your name twice, it is out of love and concern.
Martha was loved by Jesus.
They had a relationship. Martha was the first person recorded in scripture who Jesus told that He was the resurrection. Jesus choose to share the most important information He had to share with Martha first for a reason... He loved her. He shared the most important information with the one who served Him and served His kingdom. He called her to go and created her with the passion to not only spend time with Him, but to go serve.
Martha was loved by Jesus.
He loved that she served and obeyed Him with an abandoned heart. And as Randy reminded us in our Young Life staff meeting today, we are loved by Him and should be Mary at times, but we are also called to go and be Martha. We are called to speak kids' names twice and to breathe compassion into them. We are called to serve those kids and to be Martha to them because of the "Mary time" me have spent at Jesus' feet.
