the Holy Spirit

I've got Jesus. Why do I need the Holy Spirit? That was Francis Chan's question to me this morning in the new book I am reading. He said to imagine having Christ standing right beside you. Imagine the peace that would come from knowing I'd always receive perfect truth and flawless direction from Him. That sounds amazing and none of us could deny the benefit of having Jesus here physically.

Yet, why do we assume that this would be any better than the presence of the Holy Spirit? If Christ said it is better to for Him to go away so that another Comforter would come, why do we think the Holy Spirit is less important (and not the exact same being) as Jesus Christ himself?

We have been given the living God within us. I want to be different today from what I was yesterday as the fruit of the Spirit becomes more manifest in me. I felt the Spirit in my life last night, and I am thankful for His prompting and conviction. Christ said it is better for us that the Spirit came, and I want to live like I know that is true.
