Hardly an Everest of indifference

I just finished "The North Face of God" by Ken Gire. I have been reading it since this summer, and it has brought so much hope to my life. There were times this fall I felt that the Lord has been indifferent to me. Not only silent, but unaware of my feelings and circumstances. This is the prayer at the end of the book:

"Thank you , Lord, that you are not an Everest of indifference, no matter how distant or detached you sometimes seem... Help us to believe in you, even when you are silent. And during those times you are silent, help us not to be. Help us to sing hallelujah, however cold or broken it may be."

If (and when) I picture God as an Everest of indifference, the enemy has won the battle for my heart. He is disoriented my thoughts. But Jesus left behind pictures that showed us who God is. A God who sees and cares. A God who listens and who speaks. Who touches and transforms. A God who came at the greatest personal cost to destroy the works of the devil. He is hardly an Everest of indifference.
