"Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men in whom His favor rests."
This was said as prophecy to a bunch of shepherds regarding Jesus' birth. They probably had no clue what the angel was even talking about. Peace to men? Bold statement. How could that be? They were mere shepherds.
But the amazing thing is that God could promise peace to men on earth because He knew he was about to remove the obstacle to peace, sin, by sending His son. Jesus was sent to remove sin once and for all, so that we could have peace. Peace only came because of what Jesus did. But it came. To all men, even shepherds. And it came when the world needed it the most.
