passion

I just finished the passion series (online since I'm too cheap to pay for the actual conference downtown) and there were so many quotable moments. Here are a few:

Louie:
"I want to trade in something small, my life, for something huge, His story."

"Sickness for God's Glory. There is a bigger story going on. It isn't that He doesn't care."

Beth Moore:
""If God permitted something hard, He is using it. He is using our past to equip us. He would have said no to something that He wasn't using to bring Himself glory."

Francis Chan:
"We think that no matter what we hear, experience, or see, we are not changing. We instead choose the sin or bitterness."

"Some Jews saw Lazarus raised from the dead and didn't believe. They had their minds made up about Jesus. We are the same and we need a reminder."

"Scripture says He has given us everything we need to live a Godly life, so whose fault is it when we mess up? God gave us a new nature; we have to walk away from sin. We are slaves to righteousness."

John Piper (gotta think deep with these below):
"Do we love God for His God-centeredness or for our man-centeredness? We should love God's commitment to God and not His to man."

"We don't have to choose between God getting glory and our joy because the apex of His glory is our joy."

"You weren't made to be somebody. You were made to know somebody."

"Self-forgetfulness in the presence of majesty is the capstone of joy."

"If Jesus is more glorious than anything, what better thing could He ask from us than for us to bring Him glory."

"If God doesn't value His glory, He is a sinner and unrighteous. God's praise is not because He has a needy ego. It is for our benefit and our joy."
