Think of the Israelites in slavery in Egypt...
Before their exodus, the Lord had them ask the Egyptians for treasure. The Lord caused the Egyptians to have favor on the Israelites, so the Egyptians handed over their treasured possessions to them. And it was these treasures that the Israelites used to make the tabernacle, God's dwelling place. His home among them.If it had not been for the slavery, they would not have had the treasure. Slavery is not the way we seek treasure. It doesn't make sense to our way of thinking. But as we follow the Lord, we see places in our lives. Places that are dark but yield light. Places he uses suffering to bring us and make us into His great treasure.
