It's Christmas time and I just put up our tree this morning. Mom and I ventured out to find the perfect tree in Cashiers, North Carolina, and I think we made a great pick.
But while putting up the tree today, I couldn't help but think about the cross. He was born to die. On a tree. We get so caught up in decorating that we totally forget the purpose of why we have the tradition of a Christmas tree in the first place. It is to remind us of the cross and the promise of life for us. I cannot look at my tree without thinking of the Lord's purpose for Jesus' birth. He died on a tree for me to have life.
Shane and Shane have a new song (http://www.imeem.com/artists/shane_shane/music/a5d-E184/shane-and-shane-im-alive/) and the words are so powerful, "You have resurrected my heart from the grave, and I'm alive." He has done just that. He has given us promise through His humble birth, "You will not abandon me to the grave... you have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence (Acts 2)."
